In 1997, while attending the University of North Texas, singer/guitarist Brandin Lea and guitarist /keyboardist Cory Kreig hooked up to form the band Flickerstick. Brandin's brother, Fletcher was brought in to play bass and in May of 1998 former Stranger Than Fiction drummer, Dominic Weir took over on drums and with the addition of guitarist Rex James Ewing Flickerstick was complete. Musically compared to bands ranging from Radiohead to Foo Fighters and Superdrag, Flickerstick is a diverse mix of pop/rock and space rock. It is however, Flickerstick's live show that sets them apart from other bands. In 1998 Flickerstick released a self-produced 3-song demo CD called Demonstration. Two of the tracks received airplay on local radio and created a buzz locally and regionally. Malcolm Mayhew of the Fort Worth Star Telegram called Demonstration "impressiveāsmart, cleverly melodic pop songs. They were added to the line-up for vh1's reality t.v. series called Bands On The Run in 2000 and won the competition which means new gear from The Guitar Center, a music video on vh1, an audition for a major record label and 50 thousand dollars in cash. The band has now released their long awaited debut album titled: "Welcoming Home The Astronauts". The band closed a record deal with Epic Records in July of 2001.

PROFILE
Born in Dallas, Brandin comes from show-biz stock. His parents were both dancers on Broadway and toured behind Debbie Reynolds. Though Brandin still helps out at his mother's dance studio and is studying drama and film at the University of North Texas, most of his time is dedicated to Flickerstick. When not studying hard (ahem), he can be found either playing ice hockey or cramming via the History Channel. And yes he is the brother of Flecther.

Favorite bands/influences . Robert Smith of the Cure, Depeche Mode, Radiohead First Album . Motley Crue, Shout at the Devil

PROFILE
"Whatever!" Such is Cory's philosophy of life. Born in Abilene, Texas, Cory first played with the band Jaded Flush before joining Flickerstick. The group's resident hothead, Cory can be cooled down by sitting him in front of a PlayStation or whipping up a barbecue. He also has a jones for the TV show MSNBC Investigates.

Favorite bands/influences . Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Velvet Underground First Album . Beatles 1962-1966

PROFILE
As Rex explains it, the former Bat Mastersons guitarist was brought onto the Flickerstick roller-coaster so Brandin could be more of a rock star. But if anything, the unpredictable Rex has only enhanced the group's reputation with his absurd sense of humor and penchant for drink. No wonder he can frequently be heard saying, "I don't remember."

Favorite bands/influences . Oasis, Supergrass, Stone Temple Pilots Goal . "I just want to make a living being a musician."

PROFILE
Fletcher was born in Las Vegas, but like his brother Brandin, attended Southwest High School, in Fort Worth, Texas. He attended North Central Texas College, where he got by waiting tables. Then he moved to working in the front of house at Fort Worth's Caravan of Dreams concert theater. Playing with the band means he doesn't have much time left for his hobby, ice hockey - but he does take comfort in the company of his two cats.

Goal . "Make a living doing what I love."

PROFILE

Dominic Weir is a familiar face on the Dallas music scene, where he spends his downtime checking out other bands and watching movies. He's also a keen motocross and snowboard enthusiast. When it comes to the music, though, he's concerned primarily with developing his own drumming style and being able to make a living doing what he loves.
